Hi.
We are now  into fall and the weather here in Victoria has been beautiful.  It is so much nicer when the sun is shining.  It makes me appreciate fall with it's changing colours and crisp days.
Studio 30, the art group to which I belong, is in the middle of its first show for this season.  We have a display at the West Shore Town centre in Langford.  We will be there till next Sunday evening, the 13th.  It's a great display of our group's various artistic talents.  I have four pieces in this show including a painting of a view from Pacific Shores resort in Parksville (see below) which I actually started years ago and only finished last year.  I'm sure other people must do this - set aside a piece of work which gives them problems and pick it up later with a fresh mind.
Today I was demonstrating for our group out at the West Shore mall.  I was working on an acrylic painting of hanging wisteria from a photo I took in the Royal Roads gardens, in the spring of course!  The painting did not get finished today, but I will add it to my blog when it's done.

Plein Air at the Empress

I haven't posted for quite a while.  I have been enjoying our beautiful summer, with perfect weather.  I haven't been in any shows over the summer, but have been busy painting.  I also got to enjoy attending both Gorge on Art over the Canada Day weekend and the Moss Street paint-in in July.  It was nice to see some familiar faces at both.
Tomorrow I will be joining some other members of the Studio 30 Art group doing plein air painting and displaying some work on the lawn of The Empress Hotel.  I will be there from 11 am to 4 pm.  I'm sure it will be an exciting day!  It should be very busy down at the Inner Harbour.  There is a Classic Boat show and the Blues Bash.  It is the last long weekend before schools start again, so there should be a lot of people around.
Here's a sample of the work I've been doing over the summer.

May 19th was the opening of an exhibit called "Shoes" at The Coast Collective Art Gallery.  One of my paintings was accepted for this show. I was so excited because this was the first time I have submitted any of my work for an outside show.

This show is so much fun! I couldn't believe the number of different interpretations on the theme of shoes.

Coast Collective is in an old manor house on Esquimalt lagoon.  It's a beautiful site overlooking the lagoon with quite a large property.  You could spend a lot of time wandering around admiring the beauty or choosing spots for a plein aire painting.

The show "Shoes" is on until June 2nd, so this is the last weekend for taking it in.  I would recommend it to everyone!

Below is a photo taken at the opening.  My painting is the landscape with many shoes hanging on the fence. This is a real place near Blenheim, New Zealand. (and the number of shoes increases every time we go down there!)

Well I've come to the end of my second art show in the last month.  During the month of April I showed 2 of my paintings in the LOOK  Show at the Bay Centre.  I thought it was a good show this year, with lots of people checking it out.  Then for the past week I have displayed 5 of my paintings in the Studio 30 Art Show at the Tillicum Mall in Victoria.   I had quite a bit of positive feed back on my paintings, which was nice to hear.  I also did an afternoon of demonstrating.  I started an acrylic painting which I will have to post when it is finshed.  Although I didn't sell any of my paintings, a lot of the other artist's did.  But I did sell some of my art cards.  It was a good week!  I have been so busy that I haven't had much time for painting, so now I'm looking forward to spending some more time in my studio.  I have lots of ideas.

Below are some photos from the Studio 30 Art Show.

Introduction to the Blog World

Hello fellow artists and bloggers!

This is my first blog.  Let me introduce myself.  My name is Carol and I live in Victoria BC Canada. I have started this blog so that I may share my art and artist's life with fellow art lovers and any other interested parties.

Currently I am showing, for the second year, in the Annual CACGV (Community Arts Council of Greater Victoria) LOOK Show.  This is being held at The Bay Centre, downtown Victoria, on the 3rd floor.  This year we have two store fronts side by side with 100's of pieces of art.  This just proves what a large community of artists we have here in Victoria and area. I have been down to see the show twice so far and what a lot of talent there is!  Here is one of the pieces that I entered.  But I hope you get a chance to get down and see  the LOOK Show itself, it is more than worth it!
