I need to start to get my blog up to date with my paintings, so I will share my next set of paintings with you.

I chose to do a series on butterflies.  It seemed like an appropriate subject matter for a beautiful summer, ethereal, just like a summer's day.  I love butterflies, they are so colourful, almost translucent and can be aglow with colour at times.  I wanted to go for a close up look at some of the wing patterns and colours.

Isn't nature amazing!

Well, I've had a busy summer painting.  I don't know if this is due to Covid-19 or my new art studio.  Probably a combination of both.

Anyways, I have been doing themed series of paintings.  My first series was animal faces.  You can see those in my April 2020 post. I really enjoyed doing those.

I also did some paintings of city scapes from our trip to Lucerne, Switzerland. Here is one example:

You can see the historic covered bridge in the distance.  But what I really was interested in capturing was the filigreed railing in the foreground. This is a bit more simplified from the original. I also wanted to capture the clouds in the sky and the evening glow.

Check under Acrylic paintings for further paintings from Lucerne. I think my favourite was the one of the Pink Turret.
